SIDE EVENT “PROPOSED CONVENTION AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION – RAMIFICATIONS, ISSUES & CHALLENGES”

The Concluding Session of the United Nations Ad Hoc Committee to elaborate a comprehensive International Convention on Countering the Use of Information and Communications Technologies for Criminal Purposes is taking place from 29 January – 9 February 2024 at New York.

In this regard, International Commission on Cyber Security Law and Cyberlaws.Net are organising the Side Event entitled “Proposed Convention and International Cooperation – Ramifications, Issues & Challenges” on 31st January, 2024 from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. CET, under the aegis of Concluding Session of the United Nations Ad Hoc Committee.

The format of the aforesaid side event will be in the form of panel discussions wherein each panellists would be given 10-12 minutes to speak and thereafter the session would be opened up for discussions within the panellists and the audience. This Side Event will aim to explore the relevance of international cooperation in today’s context for countering the use of ICT for criminal purposes.  Various provisions of the proposed International Convention have focused on international cooperation, which would be discussed at the said side event.  International cooperation is the foundation, life and soul of the entire Convention and therefore issues and challenges that the draft text of the Convention throws up in the context of international cooperation will be sought to be identified, discussed and analysed.
